Biography

Becki Truscott Kondkar joined the Tulane Law faculty in 2006. Before that, she worked for a private firm litigating cases on behalf of victims of domestic violence and child abuse in a nationwide practice. She is a national educator who has trained hundreds of attorneys, judges, domestic violence advocates, child welfare workers and mental health professionals on legal issues affecting victims of abuse in family law courts. Her work includes a special emphasis on systemic issues that negatively impact victims of abuse in family courts.

Clinical Work

Professor Kondkar serves as Director of Tulane's Domestic Violence Clinic where teaches litigation skills and supervises third-year law students as they represent survivors of domestic violence, dating violence, stalking and sexual assault, and protective parents of abused children.

Kondkar also co-founded and co-directs the Women’s Prison Project with other VPI law faculty, Katherine Mattes, which aims to meaningfully acknowledge and address the role of intimate partner violence in assessing criminal culpability.  Through this project, Clinic students explore connections between female incarceration and domestic violence and advocate for greater responsiveness to this problem throughout the criminal justice system.
