With artwork from over 20 New Orleans area artists ages 11 to 21, the Youth Art Exhibition envisions a future free from violence and provides insight into what young people need to thrive today and into adulthood.
This year's theme is "Perception," and artists provided works that contemplate how we see our selves and how others see us and how those might be different. They will consider these quesstions: "What would you say is your identity? And, how do you gain strength from that? How would you depict yourself for the world to see? Or, how does the world see you?"
Presented by the Center for Youth Equity, the exhibit's opening will be Tuesday, December 3, 2024 from 5:30 to 7:30 pm at the New Orleans Healing Center at 2372 St. Claude Ave. Light refreshments will be served throughout the opening, and a brief award presentation will occur at 6:30 pm.
The event is free and and open to the public. Claiming tickets here helps us plan logistics.
Please note that we will continue to accept entries to the exhibit through November 1. If you are an artist age 11 to 21 in Orleans, Jefferson, St. Bernard, Plaquemines, St. Charles, St. John the Baptist, & Tangipahoa Parishes and want to submit, please email youthart@tulane.edu as soon as possible.
