Dr. Samantha Francois and VPI Community Partner Tamara Jackson, LCSW spoke to journalist Brittany Brown of the Gulf States Newsroom about the role of community organizations in violence prevention. The Gulf States Newsroom, a collaboration among Mississippi Public Broadcasting, WBHM in Alabama and WWNO and WRKF in Louisiana and NPR.
“Violent crime comes in waves. We are in a peak right now across the country that has been spurred by the pandemic. In our media cycles, in our political discourse, we are oversimplifying this,” said Dr. Francois.
