Organize & Mobilize

Organize & Mobilize is an interactive training program designed to equip students, emerging professionals, and youth with the knowledge, skills, and tools needed to drive meaningful change in their communities.

The program introduces participants to the principles of community organizing, collective action, and grassroots advocacy, emphasizing the creation of projects and initiatives that are collaborative, equitable, and responsive to local needs. Grounded in evidence-based, community-centered strategies, the program supports participants in moving from theory to practice, culminating in tangible outcomes such as community events, toolkits, or other actionable products.

Purpose

The program aims to build leadership capacity, strengthen community engagement skills, and foster ethical, inclusive practices in public health, social justice, and community-based work.

Program Overview

The program prioritizes participant-driven learning, mutual accountability, and recognition of lived experience. Participants leave with both practical skills and hands-on experience in designing and implementing community-centered projects that address local needs.

Exploring the principles of community organizing, reflecting on personal strengths and interests, and identifying issues or areas of focus.

Building Relationships & Community Networks

Learning strategies for effective communication, collaboration, and conflict resolution while mapping community resources and partners.

Planning & Strategic Development

Using frameworks like SMART goals or VMOSA to create project plans, establish objectives, and identify strategies for action.

Storytelling & Communication

Developing advocacy and presentation skills, crafting narratives, and preparing to communicate initiatives to diverse stakeholders.

Resource Building & Sustainability

Identifying existing assets, securing resources, and exploring funding strategies to support ongoing initiatives.

Culmination & Next Steps

Presenting projects, receiving peer feedback, and planning for continued community impact.
