Training & Outreach
At VPI, we are committed to building the next generation of leaders in violence prevention and equipping communities with the tools to create safer, healthier futures. Our training and outreach activities connect students, educators, and community partners through hands-on experiences that strengthen knowledge, foster collaboration, and inspire action.
Our programs include courses, workshops, writing support, leadership development, mentoring, and scholarship opportunities, reaching hundreds of participants each year.
Pincus Scholarship
Supports Tulane students pursuing careers in violence prevention by reducing financial barriers and encouraging leadership in research, policy, and practice.
Violence-related Courses at Tulane
Offers interdisciplinary courses that explore the causes of violence and strategies for prevention, preparing students to contribute solutions across public health, medicine, law, social sciences, and beyond.
Mentorship for Emerging Scholars
Provides guidance and professional development for doctoral students, postdoctoral fellows, and junior faculty engaged in violence prevention research.
Student Opportunities
Engages students in research, internships, and community projects that translate academic learning into practical experience in violence prevention.
Junior Civic Safety Council
Empowers New Orleans youth to promote safety in their schools and neighborhoods through civic engagement, leadership development, and collaboration with community leaders.
Organize & Mobilize Training
Equips community members and organizations with tools to advocate, build networks, and mobilize for lasting policy and systems change.
Youth Art Contest + Exhibit
Invites young people to share their visions of peace and safety through creative expression, raising awareness and elevating youth voices in violence prevention.
