Approaches

Arts-Based

The arts are a powerful tool for expression, healing, and social change. VPI’s arts-based approach harnesses creative practices—such as visual art, theater, storytelling, and music—to explore experiences of violence, foster dialogue, and engage communities in prevention efforts. Faculty and projects use the arts to communicate complex research findings, build empathy, and create participatory programs that empower individuals and communities to envision and enact safer environments.
